The video argues that by the means of a vague and undifferentiated notion of anthropos, Anthropocene is imposed onto non-western bodies and minds. It falsely proposes knowledge when in fact it delivers a series of hierarchies grounded on an epistemic privilege to disqualify every otherness. Its concealed Eurocentrism takes over people ́s subjectivity, perpetuating heroic narratives in which the West always brings the new epoch. This power to spread qualifications has a very precise history. The encounter between Europe and its other happened on a terrain where alterity was marked as lacks and absences and positions of powers were assigned based on these classifications. Seen as a neocolonial epistemic subterfuge, Anthropocene is another example of a narrative in which European history becomes the only framework from which other realities can be approached. As a result, the fight for the salvation of the planet (a Western mis en scène) follows a well-known logic: West elects itself as the neutral center, from which it classifies and organizes reality according to its own visions and values, naturalizing hierarchies and classifications. There is no destruction/protection of the environment without the destruction/protection of those who care for and depend on it.
