In this video, we outline our digital project entitled “Everyday Life in an Imperial Archipelago (Northern Mariana Islands)” which explores the varied, complex and ambivalent experiences of the Indigenous Chamorro and Refaluwasch peoples in an area of the Western Pacific that comprises a highly strategic location for United States military training and testing. We highlight the role of art and music in these everyday experiences alongside our engagement with the U.S. Military’s many environmental plans that seek to alter our lands and cultural identities for generations to come.
