“March of water and fire” is part of a series of three poems in which Adriana Rodrigues Novais expands her understanding of the fight and resistance the Brazilian Landless Workers’ Movement (MST) is involved in. The writings express the pains and the celebrations that permeate various moments in her activism. They contain dimensions of collective struggle against the current capitalist, patriarchal, colonial and racist order. “March of water and fire” was written on 8 March 2018, as she took part at an occupation of the Globo Network’s offices in Rio de Janeiro.
