How do we grapple with complexities unfolding on the grounds of the plantations? The tutorial video introduces key concepts surrounding plantation logics in the context of oil palm plantations in Riaus, Sumatra, Indonesia. It seeks to expand on notions of land, elaborate on how the plantation radically simplifies notions of time, labor, and cover how one pays attention to exercising care and intimacy, in the midst of toxicity - as strategies for living in the age of plantations. Adopting visual and particularly sonic layers, I attempt to illuminate what lies beyond the shadows of the oil palm, to life/non-life forms that exist within the plantation complex.
